mohammad hassan forouzanfar combines iranian and american landmarks for 'peace' project

in response to the rising political tensions between the united states of america and iran, mohammad hasan forouzanfar presents ‘peace’ – a project that aims to foster better relations by fusing iconic landmarks from the respective countries together. from the designer who imagined traditional iranian villages as skyscrapers, the ‘peace’ series also creates a fantasy landscape, one in which two worlds collide.

‘peace’ has been conceived by mohammad hasan forouzanfar in an attempt to bring the opposing nations together. in today’s global society – which all too often suffers from political, religious or racial tensions – art and architecture can be used as the most dynamic and influential common language. with this and notions of friendship and cooperation in mind, ‘peace’ offers these collages to bridge the divide between the countries.

the result is a collection of oddly dreamlike images that play with the viewers perception. ‘peace’ offers striking contrasts, such as iran’s capital, tehran, against the hollywood sign and the UNESCO world heritage site, dowlat abad garden, topped with the dome of the white house. displayed in black in white, forouzanfar’s series ultimately provides a mesmerising visual impact for a very serious issue.
