through a fusion of long-exposure photography, performance and LED-studded blades ‘the path of the sword’ – a book and exhibition by german designer moritz waldemeyer – explores the sculpture of light, on show from 10th of april through to the 15th of may, 2013 at spazio rossana orlandi, milan. without the use of photoshop, waldemeyer harnesses the agility and grace of martial arts to create the energetic light paintings – generating a compendium of abstract forms, frozen in time. the images capture swords peppered with LED lights as they move with the choreography of the weapon-based artform. the show offers a glimpse of a few of the previous collaborations of waldemeyer with some of the most important names in design, including zaha hadid, fredrickson stallard and philippe starck, as well as insight into the developmental phases of waldemeyer’s ideas, workshops, photographic experiments and events for important brands such as dom pérignon and mercedes, finishing with the screenshots extracted from the video clip ‘lights’ from english singer/songwriter ellie goulding.
