‘infiniti inspired performance’ by niv moshe ben-david incorporates both interior and exterior projections in a piece designed to offer a sense of movement

‘infiniti inspired performance’ by israeli designer niv moshe ben-david utilizes the speed and flow of motion picture visualizations to transform interior space, incorporating a host of technological and multimedia displays all synchronized to the sound of ‘one big exhilarating breath’. ben-david designed the piece for designboom’s ‘infiniti digital art competition‘, which asked participants to design innovative or interactive digital artworks under the theme of ‘inspired performance’, for installation in new centers that infiniti is opening throughout europe.

the interior of the showroom is the site of floor and wall installations, the latter of these taking the form of a dual-channel HD video ‘tree reflex’, depicting in black and white a tree and its reflection, slowly shifting with the movement of wind and water. the footage is synchronized with the sounds of a flowing stream in addition to that of a respiration, which also provides the soundtrack to the ‘breathing grid’ that lines the floor of the showroom and transforms the static space with a sense of expansion and forward movement.

this visualization is echoed on the exterior facade of the building, where footage of infiniti vehicles and commercials melds into a similar grid.

ben-david: ‘the design focus is on simplicity and minimalist lines. the colours I chose to use are blue, black, and white; I see them as representing basic elements, the balance between the visual and sound that surrounds you and supports the cars’ presentation. the moving road represents movement forward; [and] the breathing grid symbolizes the inspired structure of the infiniti brand and an innovative approach, [within] simple and basic [parameters].‘
