olaf mooij has made a name for himself modifying automobiles into odd shapes like brains and exaggerated electronics like speaker systems. adding to this collection, the rotterdam artist has created a synthetic, moving cloud in the form of ‘raincar’. the vehicle is a small construct with 300 liters of water on board. after 10 minutes of operation, the liquid is sent out through tubes that project out of the doors, handles, and bumpers in a haphazard fashion. small nozzles along the pipelines shoot mist into the air, resulting in a play on light and transparency as the car maneuvers throughout the city. at night, the effect is enhanced by a series of blue lights dispersed throughout the interior.
