portuguese firm, frederico valsassina arquitectos, has completed the renovation project of the ‘palácio chiado’ in lisbon, portgual. originally an elegant palace built in 1781, the building has been re-imagined as a high-end restaurant and has opened it’s doors to the city offering a variety of gastronomic concepts under one roof.

the revamp of the original palace by frederico valsassina creates a unique place in the heart of the portuguese capital. the palace was completely restored to it’s original grandeur, with carefully preserved paintwork, frescos and fine architectural details. a one of a kind concept, the venue offers a variety of fine-dining experiences and other types of events that intends to provide visitors with an ‘extravagant escape from the banal.’

one of the most striking features is the gold lion which hangs in one of the main dining areas. high quality materials have been used throughout the renovation by frederico valsassina to complement the grand character of the original building. overall, the project provides an elegant renovation that highlights the existing features of palácio chiado, while also creating a beautiful contemporary dining space.
