infrared dubai: a family portrait of skyscrapers and sand

paolo pettigiani has photographed new york city, much of italy, and more through infrared filters and sensitivity settings. here, candy-colored-contrasts seen through his nikon D750 transform hot, dry dubai into a cold blue city with blooming pink hues.

paolo’s key ingredient is chlorophyl. grass, leaves, trees — anything with chlorophyl strongly reflects IR light. the style results in less colors, but it almost seems necessary, when capturing a family portrait of skysrcapers and sand, to dress them sharply in just two wavelengths.
