paper cut artists nayan shrimali and vaishali chudasama have created a series of intricately cut 2.5D birds. the sculptures are part of a series of miniature artworks the pair want to create by the end of 2018.

each bird is made by cutting out different layers on paper and then painting on details, like feathers or colouring, using water colors. the pieces are then hand assembled to give a final 2.5 dimensional look, creating the illusion of three-dimensionality. each artwork takes between 4-6 hours to finish.

the series, which started out on the 1st january this year, will see shrimali and chudasama create one piece of work every day, over the course of 365 days. see all the sculptures here  and track the artists’ miniature project can be tracked on instagram, and tiny avian artworks by the duo can be bought on their etsy shop.
