navigating away from the traditional notions of couple portraiture, japanese photographer hal seals an intimate pair in futon vacuum bags and captures their image in an instant of time. his latest series of ‘flesh love’ photos has been snapped for condomania shop in tokyo, cleverly playing on the idea of a tightly encased object — referenced from the aesthetics of a condom — and the notion of preserving the twosome’s love forever. each couple can only be left inside the seal bag for 10 seconds, as air trapped within is extremely limited and space and oxygen is shared by the two inside. a documentary, which you can see below, delves into the creative process, exploring the ways in which photographer hal achieves an eternal image, why he does it, and what his vision is. at the same time, the viewer discovers what the couple feels about the experience and their own personal relationship
