PIERRE HUYGHE. LIMINAL AT PUNTA DELLA DOGANA

From March 17th to November 24th, 2024, the Punta della Dogana in Venice hosts Liminal, a comprehensive exhibition dedicated to artist Pierre Huyghe. Curated by Anne Stenne, the show presents a mix of new creations and pieces from the Pinault Collection spanning the last decade. The exhibition, which coincides with Venice Art Biennale 2024, aims to spotlight Huyghe’s exploration of the relationship between humanity and the non-human, presenting speculative narratives that challenge conventional realities. Bottega Veneta supports the event, with one of the featured works, Idiom, being outfitted by the brand’s Creative Director, Matthieu Blazy, in collaboration with the French artist himself.

interaction between human and non-human elements

Pierre Huyghe’s exhibition at Punta della Dogana (find more here) transforms the space into a dynamic and ever-evolving milieu. It serves as a transitory state where human and non-human entities coexist, forming subjectivities that continuously learn, change, and hybridize. Memories expand through the absorption of both perceptible and imperceptible events permeating the exhibition.

Long fascinated by the relationship between the human and non-human, Huyghe views his works as speculative fictions that unveil alternative modes of existence. These fictions serve as gateways to accessing the possible or impossible, exploring what could or could not be. For Pierre Huyghe (find more here), the exhibition represents an unpredictable ritual, where new possibilities emerge and coexist without hierarchy or determinism. With Liminal, he beckons us to explore other realities and to embrace a perspective beyond the human — the inhuman.
