playing against reason – frances richardson at: the corn exchange gallery, edinburgh, scotland from: july 25 to august 28, 2008

UK artist frances richardson primarily uses mdf material in her sculptures. in all her work she uses minimal material and lets the art work speak for itself. ladders are the main focus of the playing against reason exhibition. the ladder is shown in various forms, some are in the process of being made, others that are bent and some which are broken. drawings are also included in the exhibit.

richardson describes her sculptural works as “walk-in drawings”. the intent is that the viewer, does not stand apart regarding an object, or enter into an installation, but becomes part of an imaginary field within actual space.
