rolf sachs: camera in motion: from chur to tirano
galerie andrea caratsch, switzerland
from now until april 7, 2015

the train route from switzerland to italy traverses a picturesque sojourn through snow-capped mountains, thick, forested expanses and quaint villages. galerie andrea caratsch, st. moritz presents a selection of photos from the series ‘camera in motion: from chur to tirano’ by artist and designer rolf sachs, taking the audience along this dramatic, alpine route. in this body of works, sachs has taken photographs from a moving train — depending on its speed, the subject, and its distance from the camera, the resulting photographs show varying degrees of blurriness compete with moments of clarity.

photographed over the course of an entire year, beginning in late 2012, the collection of images seeks to reflect the notions of time and impermanence. it embodies symbols of the fast paced reality our time and abstracts the moments from all of our life journeys, which continually slip in-and-out of our memory.
