vipp collaborates with PPAA in north american guesthouse

Danish design brand Vipp is set to open its first North American guesthouse, a collaboration with design studio PPAA, led by architect Pablo Pérez Palacios. Located in the coastal town of Todos Santos, Vipp Todos Santos marks the tenth property in Vipp’s growing portfolio of architecturally significant, bookable retreats.

Nestled in the dynamic terrain of the area, the retreat boasts panoramic ocean views and a design that harmonizes with its surroundings. The main house, consisting of two connected guesthouses, a covered patio, a rooftop pool, and expansive terraces, was conceived as a series of arranged volumes responding to the site’s contours.

Mexico City-based team at PPAA uses natural, locally sourced materials to ground the structure in its environment. Walls of compressed rammed earth, left raw and textured, provide natural insulation and cooling, while expansive windows bridge the interior and exterior. Vipp Todos Santos embodies the regional ethos of indoor-outdoor living, further enhanced by a rooftop pool that offers celestial views of the ocean and sky and a covered terrace designed as the social nucleus of the residence.

For Pérez Palacios, the project is personal. Having visited Todos Santos for over 15 years, the architect drew inspiration from its diverse topographies, rich history, and understated charm. ‘Todos Santos has a very unique blend of traditions and influences,’ he reflects. ‘With Vipp, we’ve created an architectural language that honors these elements while seamlessly merging with the landscape.’

curated interiors link danish and mexican design traditions

The interiors, curated by Pérez Palacios in collaboration with Sofie Christensen Egelund of Vipp and Copenhagen-based designer Julie Cloos Mølsgaard, are a testament to the meeting of Danish and Mexican design traditions. A serene palette of earth tones, concrete, and wood is complemented by custom furniture, local art, and ceramics. Woven Palo de Arco shutters, a nod to local craftsmanship, cast dynamic shadows throughout the day, adding rhythm to the interiors. At the heart of the open-plan living space is Vipp’s anodized aluminum V3 kitchen, accompanied by the furniture and lighting collections of the brand.
