the selfie trend has infiltrated countless aspects of contemporary culture, from drones taking selfies with their high-tech mechanics and wildlife selfies campaigning for animal protection. a reddit user has taken the craze inside ireland’s crawford art gallery, uniting past and present by making the ancient statues appear as if they’re snapping photos of themselves. for the series, the collection of greco-roman sculptures are chosen for their stance, with an outstretched arm elongated and ready for the picture-taking pose. the camera is positioned just behind the plaster figure’s hand, making the scene seem as if the intimate forms have come to life, indulging in selfie-taking and social media sharing.
