stefanie rittler of studio jephrim and jan bernstein create ‘made in germany’, an installation that brings food production in the gallery space. recreating the clean, cold aesthetics of a conveyor belt, the two have placed a sausage that runs in a constant circle, bumping from one belt to the other.

the installation uses ‘sausage as a symbol for family happiness and togetherness,’ as stefanie rittler and jan bernstein mention. ‘made in germany’ offers a touching, playful experience for visitors observing the sausage move from one belt to the other, while making sure they become aware that the sausage is still made from animals, and asking ‘where is your meat coming from?’
