spanish architecture and design studio teratoma productions presents its latest project, in collaboration with fashion company nouman for the mercedez-benz fashion week in madrid. consisting of six mobile modules, the installation relates — through light and images — a story based on colour temperature. during the catwalk, the device generated different paths while a female voice-over relates certain events linked to specific color temperatures. this innovative proposal introduces a twist to traditional catwalks by showing the audience partial views of the models.

with the plain soleil installation, the mercedez-benz fashion week in madrid was introduced to the world of physics. hypothetically speaking, a black body is defined as an ideal energy absorber and radiator, with no reflecting power. therefore, the color temperature of a light source is the temperature of a perfect black body that emits radiation with similar hue/color of that light source. this unique property has important applications in a variety of fields such as lighting, photography, publishing, astrophysics, horticulture — among many others.

in that sense, teratoma production — alongside nouman — relates different temperature ranges to human emotions, moments or conditions. by doing so, human sensibility and physics are combined in one work of art. ‘love and hate, death and sun, all are part of a color temperature spectrum. today we are here at 3000 Kelvins and we will never be like that again’
