chiharu shiota: synchronizing strings and rhizomes
casa asia headquarters, barcelona
on now through to march 30th, 2013

berlin-based artist chiharu shiota interrogates the concept of space through her thread installation ‘synchronizing strings and rhizomes’
at casa asia headquarters in barcelona, spain. the artwork is defined by a mass of black thread swallowing common,
recognizable objects such as a piano, mirror or wedding dress. the rich network of yarn represents the invisible connection
between humans and the built environment – conceptualizing the transport of information essential in all the communication.
shiota creates monumental yet delicate and poetic environments that not only fill an environment, but define it.
