‘undeniably me.’ features the work of ten artists exploring themes of identity. confidence and doubt, self-control and disclosure, familiarity and alienation, remembering and forgetting are expressed through the more than 1300 faces on display, revealing the complex personality possessed by every single human being. the portraits also show how the representation of reality has become increasingly uncertain in the modern age, and that the dissolution of a clear representational relationship between reality and perception goes to the very core of all our questioning: to the self, the individual, the subject. the work of beat streuli, brian alfred, bruce nauman, christian boltanski, cindy sherman, elizabeth peyton, fiona tan, luc tuymans, richard billingham and 18th century guest, antoine pesne.
