'will it beard': festive decoration ideas for quarantine beards during this holiday season

quarantine beards have become somewhat of a thing during the coronavirus pandemic, as men at home renounce their regular shaving habits to experiment with facial hair growth. if you are searching for festive ideas to decorate your beard during this holiday season, look no further than pierce and stacy thiot’s ‘will it beard’ series. the project, which started out in 2014, features humorous snapshots of pierce’s thick brown beard stuffed with random household objects, including LEGOs, christmas baubles (see here for a dedicated beard bauble kit), and candy canes among many more.all images courtesy of will it beard, pierce and stacy thiot

the will it beard series pays particular attention to various holidays, making it the perfect source of inspiration for decoration ideas during this festive season. in fact, the entire project was born during a christmas dinner: ‘two years ago, I was home for christmas, and my family had just had dinner,’ notes pierce thiot on an instagram post. ‘for after-dinner entertainment, my mom had her young grandchildren do a talent show. most of the kids sang songs or did a dance. it was adorable.

when it came time for my turn, I went to the junk drawer that every house has, grabbed a bunch of pencils, pens, scissors…basically anything I could grab. and I had the grandkids see how much junk could fit into my beard. the grandkids laughed hysterically at how silly it was. I thought, “hey, instagram could use a little bit more silly.” and #willitbeard was born.’
