celebrating the life of a legend through a worldwide meditation

Alongside Martin Luther King Jr. Day and Inauguration Day, January 20th, 2025 would have been the 79th birthday of David Lynch. Following the visionary director’s passing on January 15th, the artist’s family has called for a ‘worldwide group meditation’ to be held today at 12:00pm PST to honor and remember his life. The David Lynch Foundation will host the virtual group meditation via Zoom (link here).

The event was announced on social media by the artist’s family who wrote on his official twitter account:David Lynch, our beloved dad, was a guiding light of creativity, love, and peace. On Monday, January 20th — what would have been his 79th birthday — we invite you all to join us in a worldwide group meditation at 12:00pm NOON PST for 10 minutes,’

Let us come together, wherever we are, to honor his legacy by spreading peace and love across the world. Please take this time to meditate, reflect, and send positivity into the universe. david lynch’s transcendental meditation practice

For decades, David Lynch practiced Transcendental Meditation. Acknowledging that ‘happiness comes from within,’ that artist meditated twice daily from 1973 until his death. In 2005 the David Lynch Foundation was founded to teach ‘TM’ to both adults and children worldwide in an effort to share Conscious-Based education and promote World Peace.

The artist wrote:I started Transcendental Meditation in 1973 and have not missed a single meditation ever since. Twice a day, every day. It has given me effortless access to unlimited reserves of energy, creativity and happiness deep within. This level of life is sometimes called ‘pure consciousness’ — it is a treasury. And this level of life is deep within us all.’

The David Lynch Foundation describes Transcendental Meditation:It is a simple, natural, effortless technique practiced 20 minutes twice a day while sitting comfortably with the eyes closed. It’s not a religion, philosophy or lifestyle.’

[It] allows the active thinking mind to settle inward to experience a naturally calm, peaceful level of awareness. During TM, the body enjoys a profoundly rejuvenating rest, while the brain functions with significantly greater coherence.’
