in lima, an abandoned building has been given a multicolored metamorphosis. artist xomatok, celebrated for his chromatic interventions — both urban and interior — has bathed the site in peru in a spectrum of hues, altering its otherwise deteriorating exterior. titled ‘purificación’, the installation saturates a recess in the building’s façade in a gradating palette of blues, purples, reds, and yellows.

xomatok’s installation enlivens the site by creating a surprising and unfamiliar sense of discovery within an abandoned space. other chromatic installations on designboom include a manchester gallery as a luminous chromatic expanse by liz west, and a memphis-inspired mega-mural by camille walala in brooklyn.
