in 2007, constanza miranda and julian uggarte, in partnership with the minimo team un techo para chile (non-profit organization) and the design school of pontìficia universidad catòlica de chile, developed a course for fourth year design students. miranda and uggarte who are both product designers, used a design research methodology to develop workshops which focused on graphic and industrial products. the brief they delivered was to develop lifestyle products for a poor neighbourhood outside of santiago called villa padre hurtado. students developed solutions which responded to chile’s economic environment, aiming to improve the quality of life for individuals living in poverty.
