Protoscapes is an award-winning architecture design studio based in China. Since 2017, their practice has been committed to re-imagining the aesthetic, social, technical, and ecological possibilities of their ever-changing built environment. As a think-and-do-tank, they are leveraging China’s next phase of urbanization as their testing ground to bridge the domains of architecture, landscape, urban design and art into one holistic design practice, while integrating new paradigms of place-making based on urban intensity, community empowerment, and biophilic design. They aspire to create ‘Protoscapes’ with each project they undertake – thriving habitats that empower the way they think, feel and live collectively.
