the design museum in london has announced the winners for this years brit insurance design of the year awards. honoring the most innovative designs from a wide range of disciplines, this years medalists stem from locations including sweden, germany, japan, italy, USA and the UK. divided into seven applicable categories, the awards have gone to:

The building is an open air library, not an museum. And the facade is made out of an recycled 50’s shopping mall facade from an early egon eiermann building … never the less it is an nice low budget building.
The museum itself is OK, but what is bothersome is the lack of considered placement: now the hood looks much like a ratatouille. and not in an appetizing sense. The graffiti-ish illustrations are a nice touch.
