calling creatives from south korea and abroad, the 2020 human city design award seeks innovative designs that propose new visions to help people, communities, the environment, and nature co-exist. this is through solving complex urban issues; the award aims to recognize and realize your creative projects that resolve issues threatening the lives and future of humanity. this is because cities around the world today are facing many various social challenges – from vulnerable groups to environmental pollution and resource depletion – and they need your help.

with the mission to turn the city into an example of built urban ecosystems where humans and the environment can harmoniously co-exist, the seoul metropolitan government and the seoul design foundation declared it as the ‘human city design seoul’. the 2020 human city design award prompts new directions in the field of international design from global participants. it understands design as pivotal tool in improving urban environments as well as creating a sustainable future.

the international design award seeks proposals that create a sustainable urban environment where all citizens can enjoy life. submissions will be assessed with three key themes of criteria: as a solution to living issues in the city, such as does it create a harmonious urban area; as a proposal for future vision, where the design contributes to a concept of global and future-orientated culture; and the expansion of global values, including ideas on how the design solution can be expanded on an international level. last but not least, proposed projects must be able to be implemented in less than five years.
