when it comes to life-size LEGO builds we’ve seen a few. there’s the technic bugatti chiron, the ferrari F1, and don’t forget the bjarke ingles-designed house. now a pair of master model makers have used 400,000 bricks to create full-sized LEGO volkswagen type 2 kombi.

the model was built around a steel-tube frame, can accomodate the weight of two adults, and features cleverly designed, retro-inspired interiors. the VW is decked out in LEGO creations including folding tables, a sink, coffee set, gas stove, and artwork. there’s even a couple of toothbrushes and what looks like a tube of toothpaste.

what’s more impressive is that its builders managed to incorporate a sliding door like on the real T2 transporter and fully-functioning lights. the iconic camper stretches over 16.4 feet (5 meters) in length and weighs 1,543 lb (700 kg) and includes authentic elements like the VW insignia on the front. it’s mod-style color combination matches the van’s 1960s origins.
