acoustic harp guitar with 109 strings can play different chords at once

BERNTH makes his own acoustic harp guitar with 109 strings

Musician BERNTH builds his own acoustic harp guitar with 109 strings by piecing together bodies and cords of different plucked string instruments, including what resembles a ukulele. He makes it in the comfort of his own home and admits it took him a while to bundle them up on a single acoustic guitar body. More so, he had to practice for some time to figure out what the chords would sound like and where they were placed.

In the end, he manages to pull off playing on his homemade acoustic harp guitar, plucking the 109 strings to record his own song, I Still Miss You. In his Youtube video, the musician opens up about how the melodic and instrumental track came up while he was tinkering with his new musical instrument, the process of making it and the outcome becoming his source of inspiration.

Distinctive melodies from 109 strings

The sounds of the homemade acoustic harp guitar are haunting and melodic at the same time. The 109 strings have their own distinctive tunes, which can allow the player to produce different rhythms and solos at once. In his video, BERNTH can only use one hand for the rhythm and the other one for his solos, but as the clip progresses, his comfortable plucking displays the hand form typically used for harp playing.

BERNTH says that the harps are all tuned differently, and it took him an entire day to properly tune his new musical instruments. By the looks of it, the acoustic harp guitar may need some surface support, as the player may find it a bit challenging to carry around their shoulder. Given its body size too, the player may have to look over to pluck the 109 strings without a hassle. As of publishing the story, BERNTH has yet to release how he built his own acoustic harp guitar, but the first few seconds of his video give snippets of his process.
