adidas originals reinterprets and relaunches ozweego shoes from 1990s

with multiple editions that mixed different cultural influences with innovation, the adidas ozweego shoes from the 1990s led the way in terms of forward-thinking and stylistic design. its aggressive aesthetic shares many characteristics with footwear trends nowadays, which inspired adidas originals to reinterpret the iconic running shoes for the modern day. with five brand new colorways, their new designs in the 90s ozweego silhouette are available from august 8, 2019.

throughout the 1990s, a whole array of iterations of the ozweego trainers were created, with each one pushing for new innovations and trends. adidas’ latest design was inspired by the ozweego 3 sneaker of 1998 specifically, where its colorful aesthetic was embraced by street culture. it also enhanced advanced mechanisms like the adiPRENE and adiPRENE+ that delivered maximum comfort.

taking its iconic 90s-style silhouette, the adidas originals ozweego has been re-worked for today’s generation, pairing a futuristic design with equally as progressive colors. its distinct eye stay panel, defined midsole lines and translucent support tube offer a modern expression of the original design language. it is then perfected with a classic mesh, suede and TPU construction across the upper, which is countered with a fabric lining.

  • Good day,
You make reference to the 90’s. I have been a Adidas fan for more than 35 years. I always just loved the fit. Adi Dassler can be proud to this day. I have had many pairs over the years but I have to be honest. Comfort and style was a priority in the 90’s. A nice new white cotton tshirt and navy blue jeans with a new Adidas Torsion was enough statement. I was a good athlete from the 80’s into the 90’s and I have to be honest, there was one running shoe that to this day, stands out as superior in comfort and style. The Adidas TRX Runner. If you look at the Adidas TRX Runners’ design, you would most likely realise where and how the design and technology of the Adidas Ozweego stemmed from. The lift cushioning on the heels and instep meant longer running exerting less energy for recovery time. In closing. I love Adidas.
