winner of the red dot ‘best of the best’ design award, adrian and jeremy wright of UK-based studio ‘designwright’ have created the ‘flip alarm clock’ for french brand lexon. reconsidering the everyday object used by most people to help them stumble out of bed in the morning, the piece was made with ease of use in mind. the alarm can be turned on or off by simply turning it over in one swift motion. the view of the hours also flips as the clock is turned, making use of the inherent symmetry in the classic 7-segment display. there are bold on and off graphics engraved into the product to indicate the alarm status, a secondary area to show the alarm time and a touch-sensitive snooze and light feature, helping to make mornings that little bit easier.
