plants are often overlooked as a crucial part of a home, but their innate aesthetics and positive psychological effects can bring warmth and comfort to any location. research into the great importance of organic life in personal residences led young designers alessio d’andrea and vincenzo vitiello—creators of lab. fabrici–to create ‘aeris’ + ‘altrove’.

‘aeris’ + ‘altrove’
the designs are strongly characterized by traditional materials such as clay, wood, and copper. the warmth and authenticity of their production subtly blends into the environment, much in the same way house plants do. ‘aeris’ is a domestic air purifier, re-imagined. a small, high-speed fan increases air flow through a plant placed inside the object. increased levels of carbon are returned to the plant, which the plant then intakes, and fresh oxygen is released into the environment. any plant can be used, different combinations either making the purifier pop or disappear in its setting.

‘altrove’ is designed to care for plants when traveling, or throughout the day when not at home. based on traditional drop-irrigation methods, the organic shaped system hides its vital function like its sister-object, insisting on delicacy instead. held via a leather belt around a support, the water container is filled from the top, and carried by a small, interior hose.
