creating an atmosphere of a real home, alf dafrè debuted refined contemporary pieces amongst their current furniture collections at salone del mobile 2018. the new designs link to the italian brand’s catalogue thanks to their focus on high quality, traditional craftsmanship, and their dedication to not only innovative but also sophisticated design. the large scale show space, divided into different domestic settings, displays furnishings for dining, living and sleeping areas where a color palette of grays are combined with warm, highlight shades of nude, coral, magenta and petrol blue.

collaborating with alf dafrè for the first time, marcello ziliani’s ‘shift’ chair collection is composed of a lounge seat, armchair and footstool. the design illustrates the graceful deconstruction of the relationship between the frame, seat and back, defining each element with a distinct identity. the broad seat and footstool, which can be upholstered in fabric or faux leather, seem to be cantilevered while the actual wooden frames appear like natural branches as the parts fit together unconventionally.

also new to the brand, the ‘fusello’ dining table by molteni baron associati expresses refined contemporary design on a larger scale. whilst the table’s name references the bobbin used in lace-making, the shape of its solid wood legs, which can be finished in matt lacquered oak or fashion wood, derive from the utensil’s smooth appearance. above, an expansive wooden, marble or transparent glass top looks as if suspended by the framework below. this creates a juxtapose where the surface complements the framework, which becomes the central, flexible and highlight element of the composition.

as a perfect partner to the ‘copenhagen’ family of sofas by enrico cesana, launched in 2017, the designer has created the highly versatile ‘malmo’ occasional tables. the designs complement with a slim metal frame, which can be finished in moka shine or matt lacquer, and a delicately rounded wooden top. it is extremely lightweight while also available in different shapes and heights to offer maximum flexibility. as such, the result fits naturally into any domestic setting, be it a living or sleeping area.
