the ‘cupiditas table’ by amarist is a furniture piece created to awake emotions and exhibit unique experiences through its exclusive materiality and avant-garde design. cupiditas, meaning ‘desire’ in latin, is the result of an equilibrium between craftsmanship and contemporary art. with its pure lines and minimalist form, it perfectly blends functionality and sculpture.

a circular plane of tempered glass constitutes the table top while the base is shaped out of basalt marble from calatorao, spain. between these two surfaces, the body of the work appears as a cube balancing on one of its vertices that has sunken into the ground. made out of alabaster, a unique and translucent stone, the furnishing can be illuminated from its 600-diode core with LED RGB wi-fi technology controlled by any smartphone or tablet device. this application allows users to change the light color and intensity in order to produce the desired atmosphere for their social events or their emotional status.
