60 animal beanbag chairs accommodate visitors inside Bottega Veneta’s SS25 show space during Milan Design Week 2024. They’re joyful, playful, and entirely crafted in leather. They sit low to the ground, so visitors have a different perspective of the models and the collection as they walk through the runway. These animal beanbag chairs aren’t at the show for a wow factor. Creative director Matthieu Blazy wants an homage, both in the home of Bottega Veneta and as he rifles through the fashion house’s accessories in its early days.

Sacco-inspired animal chairs to appear at design miami 2024

These animal beanbag chairs, dubbed The Ark, pay tribute to the Zanotta Sacco, a seat designed by Piero Gatti, Cesare Paolini, and Franco Teodoro in 1968. In fact, the concept is the same, but the approach is different because instead of the usual singular color, these ‘Sacco’ beanbag chairs embody animals. Their designs also hark back to Bottega Veneta’s early bags, sharing the same softness, malleability, and fluidity in terms of shape and materials. The fashion house’s Ark chair collection is set to appear at Design Miami between December 1st and 8th, 2024.

15 animals in bottega veneta’s Sacco beanbag chairs

There are 15 animals featured in 60 Sacco beanbag chairs, namely a dog, panda, rabbit, ladybird, snake, bird, chicken, dinosaur, otter, elephant, cat, fox, bear, horse, and whale. The light is golden, and it shines directly onto these leather chairs present during the show. As soon as the visitors sit, the Sacco chairs mold to their weight and shape, gearing them up for the same playful energy running through Bottega Veneta’s SS25 collection during Milan Fashion Week. ‘It was the idea of The Ark: a joyful world with a sense of wonder, populated by friendly companions that make you smile and say wow,’ says the fashion house’s Matthieu Blazy.

Through the animal beanbag chairs, the creative director hopes the viewers tap into their childlike energy and creativity, the essence and sense of having fun while watching a show. After appearing during Milan Fashion Week, The Ark chairs are set to appear at Design Miami 2024 between December 1st and 8th, 2024.

They’re also available in limited quantities on the Bottega Veneta website from September 22nd, 2024, and for six months. During the design fair, the light gray rabbit and white chicken are to be sold exclusively. ‘I hope this sense of wonder continues every time people come across them, whether at home or elsewhere,’ adds Matthieu Blazy.
