dutch designer ann van der lei wanted to create a light that came from below, not above like most lights in the home. her solution is lowlight a small light with a white porcelain shade. the light sits slightly above the ground reflecting the light through the shade and off the floor. since most interior lights are placed above, van der lei noticed how people tend to look down. the low light has the opposite effect, completely changing the atmosphere of the room. the light moves slightly up and down to alter the amount of light emitted from underneath the shade.
