emoji lovers rejoice as apple has unveiled some new ones coming later on this year to iOS, macOS, and watchOS. in celebration of ‘world emoji day’, the firm has previewed its latest emoticons featuring a woman with a headscarf, a bearded person, and a breastfeeding woman, along with new food items like sandwich and coconut. our favorites would definitely be exploding head (AKA mind blown), zombie and t-rex, but we certainly see many using the meditating one.

with emoji’s quickly becoming a new language, it’s no surprise 69 new ones are being released. all of them were approved earlier this year by the unicode consortium, the nonprofit group that sets the standard for both emoji and text characters. each company—like apple and google—then interprets them with their own design visions. in celebration of world emoji day, apple’s app store implemented their use by creating hieroglyphs of movies you can buy or rent from iTunes.
