tel aviv-based aqua creations presents new lighting collections: ‘molecules’, ‘tokonoma’ and ‘rotini’ at milan design week 2011.

in japanese, tokonoma is a japanese style reception area in which objects for natural and artistic appreciation are displayed. the ‘tokonoma’ lamps were developed in the spirit of such objects. handmade felt are used for the shades with wood for supporting stands. the felt is handmade by aqua’s artisans, each of the four different finishes are made from using merino wool and pure silk and meant to represent each of the four seasons: haru for spring, natsu for summer, aki for autumn and fuyu for winter.

‘molecules’ wall lamp design by ofir zucker andalbi serfaty in collaboration with origami artist ilan garibi

based on the origami art of ilan garibi ‘molecules’ consists of floor, wall and table lamp versions in which paper is used to create origami lamp shades, diffusing light with its tesselation patterns. their light forms complement and contrast their superior wood structures whose shapes are derived by digital wood carving.

‘rotini’ designed by ayala serfaty with project manager benad dar available in the following sizes: 140 x 140 x 30 cm / 220 x 144 x 30 cm / 220 x 220 x 30 cm

continuing with aqua creations trademark silk lighting, the ‘rotini collection’ is a horizontal pendant lamp that comes in three different sizes. with this collection five additional silk colors that draw on the earth and natural hues: coal stone, shell, sand and redwood.
