aric chen has been appointed curatorial director for design miami/. following a comprehensive international examination, the shanghai-based architecture and design curator and critic has been chosen to occupy the yearlong position. chen, who is currently the curator-at-large at hong kong’s M+ museum, has also worked as the creative director of beijing design week and is a founding co-creative director of 100% design shanghai. his extensive career in design also includes the organization of exhibitions and projects at london’s design museum (see beazley designs of the year nominees for 2018), the centre for architecture in new york, experimental design in amsterdam, and the design museum holon in israel among others.

 

in his new job, aric chen will be in charge of exhibitions, collaborations, and commissions in both miami beach and basel — where the fair takes place during winter and summer.
