italian furniture company arper presents its 2013 furniture collection which includes pieces by design office antti kotilainen and lievore altherr molina.

the seat shells are made from precompounded wood and express a sinuous profile

the soft curves of finnish designer antti kotilainen’s ‘aava chair’ express a contemporary silhouette; an adaptive form which can easily assimilate to any environment. developed for both residential and contract use, the seat shell is made from precompounded wood which is milled to variable thicknesses and then sheathed in veneer to accentuate its sinuous profile. the chairs are fabricated from a range of materials and are available in a number of colors and finishes: birch painted black, birch painted white, natural birch, natural oak, natural walnut and beechwood. these are supported by bases which come as wooden legs, sled or chrome 4-legs–the latter two options can be stacked for large-scale use and storage–and the possibility of having armrests.‘aava’ comes in two heights: 65 cm and 75 cm.

ply low tables and stools by lievore altherr molina for arper

the spanish trio of alberto lievore, jeannette altherr and manel molina have conceived ‘ply’, a set of low tables and stools which are triangular in form. the collection has been created so that they form a continuous line from the surface through the legs, the reduced silhouette and warm wood material from which they are constructed, complementing the overall dynamic formsexpressed through each object. the playful geometry of ‘ply’ allows one to arrange the pieces much like a game of tangram, where shape and color work together resulting in open compositions. tables are available with a variety of table top possibilities (either oak, black or red finishes) and come in two different heights of 36 cm and 44 cm. the stools stand at either 44 cm, 64 cm or 76 cmand are suitable for dining and bar applications, available in either natural oak or black finishes.
