looking to the past to interpret and appreciate the present, italian-based designer naomi muirhead of art925 combs international flea markets and junk shops for small objects – utilizing old and sometimes discarded materials, they are re-purposed and transformed into low-tech, wearable ‘timeless’ jewelry. vintage ephemera, italian maps, letters, photos, watch parts, game pieces, and other items, are all re-used and given a new life, while still honoring the past imprint of the treasure’s history. these recent designs were proposed to feature each unique watch part with sentimental value and memory. the hands are removed to stress the importance of slowing down in life and stopping time’s passage – the ‘passing of time is relative to how you spend it.’
