though best known for its renaissance art and architecture monuments, florence also happens to be the italian city with the oldest artistic tradition of processing essences and perfumes. as a traditional florentine company, dr. vranjes firenze succeeds in combining both in an artisanal perfume line for interiors deeply linked to its hometown.

the company, founded by paolo vranjes and his wife anna maria in 1983, seeks to weave unique olfactory experiences with scents that draw from florence’s various flowers, such as the giglio di firenze (iris), which was released earlier this year in celebration of the company’s 35 year anniversary. the 40 exclusive fragrances are packed in an iconic bottle, mouth-blown by florentine artisans with a shape that references the octagonal base of brunelleschi’s dome.

‘olfactory emotions are almost never matched with a personal fragrance. they are more often linked to the scent of an environment, a place, a moment  they are related to what concerns ones observation of the outside world, ‘ explains paolo vranjes, who chose to enter the world of artistic perfumery with a strong background in chemistry, pharmaceuticals and cosmetic science.
