'atmos' uses atmospheric pressure to make drip coffee more efficiently

designed by sydney-based studio vaupel design, the device for making cold drip coffee ‘atmos’ brings convenience and style in your everyday life. thanks to the atmospheric air-lock, the invention doesn’t require a drip control tap and complex glass tubes. the air-lock creates perfectly even water pressure across the coffee grinds to produce consistently great tasting coffee.

compared to the drip taps on conventional set-ups, this means a brew can be run overnight with no hourly adjustment needed for perfectly consistent extraction, even for novices. whether in the kitchen, in the fridge or on the breakfast table, the atmos fits effortlessly into everyday use and a modern lifestyle.

atmos is made from the highest grade of commercially available stainless steel, solid 316 grade, finished with laser welding and hand brushing

atmos is equally suitable for a quick morning coffee on the go or a weekend brunch with friends. it makes up to 5 shots of cold drip espresso which keeps in the fridge for up to 5 days.

the grooves underneath the integrated filter draw the coffee to the centre drop using surface tension, eliminating the need to remove parts for cleaning

atmos coffee is a startup founded by the inventor of the atmos extraction system, who initially prototyped it with modified existing coffee maker parts. vaupel design then created the unique look by striving for the simplest and most efficient shape for daily use and manufacturing. the companies aim to raise $50 000 via their indiegogo campaign.

atmos comes with 3 hand-blown borosilicate bottles, solid stainless steel basket and tamp, cleaning brush and descaling tablet

the solution to use surface tension instead of a separate funnel or larger bottle opening was created to allow the top and bottom bottles to remain the same, allowing the 3rd bottle to be used to ‘drink while you brew’. eliminating the need to disassemble and clean an extra funnel each time a bottle of coffee is brewed, was also crucial to making this the simplest possible way to make genuine cold drip coffee.
