italian designer carlo contin has developed ‘avvitamenti’, a furniture collection that uses over-sized wooden screw-like dowels to attach each of the pieces together.  memories of his father, a great carpenter and cabinet maker, who used self clamping screws for self-produced woodwork influenced the final outcome of contin’s project. the structural system shows a repeatable pattern that conceives a variety of household items; from tables to desk lamps, the series of objects thrive on the action of screwing.
