AXOR curates three designer bathroom concepts imagining individual luxury

the luxury of individualization

As the creators of iconic objects for bathrooms and kitchens, AXOR is attentive to the evolving desires for the future of luxury. The Compact Luxury megatrend explored the demand for higher quality as people’s living spaces shrunk. Continuing this theme, the designer brand’s Distinctive campaign focuses on the key to modern well-being: individualization. There is a need for spaces and objects to reflect one’s own personality, and as such, AXOR asks a curation of three creatives – Tristan Auer, Sarah Poniatowski, and Hadi Teherani – to imagine three bathroom concepts that distinctly craft personal well-being experiences.

AXOR X TRIStAN AUER

Renowned for the sensuality and the vibrant mixing colors, lights and eras of his designs, Paris-based interior and emotion architect Tristan Auer creates the first AXOR bathroom concept, dubbed the ‘Blade Runner’. The space transforms a high-rise apartment in Hong Kong by taking inspiration from the city’s typology of many different layers built on top of itself. The mix of old and new, historic and futuristic influences the curation of different period pieces, colors and textures in the space.

A diamond-cut pyramidal pattern from the AXOR Edge influences textures throughout the room

Designed as a room with a bath, there is a distinct, bold 80s aesthetic to the space. Stainless steel surfaces reflect the neon lighting, offset with a graphic mix of light and dark travertine stone. The eighties era continues to influence the interior as a diamond-cut pyramidal pattern is borrowed from the AXOR Edge faucet, designed by Jean-Marie Massaud, and extended across the room. The materials of the designer objects continue to add contrast with the surroundings, including the Edge washbasin faucet and free-standing bath faucet, AXOR ShowerHeaven and Edge thermostat, and the new AXOR Universal Rectangular Accessories designed by Philippe Starck.

AXOR X MAISON SARAH LAVOINE

An idyllic, seaside detached bathroom forms the second AXOR bathroom concept. Designer Sarah Poniatowski of Maison Sarah Lavoine sources inspiration from the natural authenticity of South-West France, balancing the inside and outside, and creating a relaxing space with a summer holiday feeling. It stresses the importance for people to connect with their surroundings.

Natural materials and color contrast with the subtle accents of the AXOR Starck collection

Natural materials, such as raw pine and travertine, dissolves the concept’s boundaries between the in and outdoors. Sunlight stripes the teal tiles inside as it passes through folding windows with wooden louvres. A teak-framed doorway leads out to a shaded terrace structured from exposed pine beams, where the natural effect of the outdoor shower area is heightened by the simple elegance of the AXOR Starck Nature Shower. There is a curation of subtle contrasts with both the choice of colors and materials. The brushed bronze of the AXOR FinishPlus dresses the AXOR Starck collection, two AXOR Starck faucets set accents against the travertine washbasin and again with the floor-standing edition by the bathtub, and the AXOR Starck Shower Column follows the same lines of the long, exposed pine beams.

Hadi Teherani creates a bathroom concept as if an enveloping cupola from the Middle East

AXOR X HADI TEHERANI

Influenced by the openness and secureness of public baths in the Middle East, Hadi Teherani designs the third AXOR bathroom concept as a place for regeneration with the dual offering of protectiveness and infinity. The architect, who notably embarks designs with a holistic approach, created the bathroom from personal perception to ensure the space literally derived from self-image.

The straight lines of the AXOR Citterio E faucets contrast with the zero-edged circular room

With the cupola placed at the center of the home, the design is based on the primal form of housing – an enveloping cocoon – with zero corners and edges. An organically-formed bathtub sits in the middle of the open plan, circular room, with a spacious shower area and oval double washbasin placed to the sides. Whilst sat in the bath, the bather feels as if lounging beneath a starry sky as the high arched ceiling is adorned with a glass mosaic that dazzlingly stretches across the entire room. The AXOR Citterio E faucets, AXOR overhead and hand-held showers, and AXOR Universal Softsquare Accessories in matt black form a striking contrast in comparison, The elegant objects crown the concept, adding the high quality performance needed for true well-being experiences, and playing the role of functional jewelry.
