‘function follows fairytale’ is a new book by german designer aylin langreuter in which she looks at the elements of form through the presentation of her own work. the book discusses the formation of objects which tend to stretch, regroup and grow out of each other, exploring functional elements and the perceived value of things.

‘for the longest time I had the naïve notion that art had to be universally and intuitively understood. that any venture into explanation would destroy the effect, that a like mind would recognize the meaning – if such existed – and the beauty of each piece and with that maybe be able to trace the process that led me to it. and even though I wisened up fast to the universal demand for explanation and clarification, I still hope that sometimes it will work that way.’ – aylin langreuter

the book is published by blumenbar publisher berlin with text by artist and writer andreas neumeister.
