benetti stone: mosstile

‘mosstile’ by italian company benetti stone is a vertical maintenance free garden. it is made using a stabilized tile of lichen placed over top of an ecologically sound resin base, ready to be installed on any kind of surface. it does not require irrigation or fertilization, nor does it need to be pruned. ‘mosstile’ can be placed in rooms without natural light as it is not dependent on any particular environmental conditions. available in 12 natural colors, ‘mosstile’ can be used alone or in combination with other benetti products.

  • It does look great. But wait a few months and the dust collected on it will give a much different look.

  • I lived in tropical Singapore for over a decade and developed ways to grow plants over buildings so this is an interesting twist. Inside is a problem… there were over 36 varieties of fungus or mold there.. black at the eaves green at the base. These can be a health hazard.. if moss gives off spores there is extra trouble as then you would get growths at any point in the ventilation… especially condensation areas in humid climates.

    John Halldane says:
  • Providing vertical green space is a good idea, but more focus & strategies of maintaining the green space should be illustrated with the product. I am very sure that if maintained it will look good in future as well.

    Suprim Oswal says:
  • Since several months I installed it in my house and no problem of dust or anythingelse I read here from you. Moss tile has been stabilized so it does not grow anymore and no bacterien or fungus can survive on these tiles. I recommend it to all of you if you wish a green wall without any maintenance!!!!! I love it!!
