Boconcept’s ‘Live ‘Ekstraordinær celebrates activity-based working

BoConcept reveals a new interior collection to facilitate activity-based work (ABW). Named ‘Live Ekstraordinær, the range challenges the traditional static office design by supporting a dynamic and flexible approach to work. Allowing employees to work in environments that suit their personalities and specific roles, this modern concept enhances worker well-being and company productivity. BoConcept’s contemporary furnishings can be customized to suit the requirements of any project.

Over 70 years of crafting interiors

Since it’s establishment in 1952, BoConcept has been collaborating with visionary designers to create furniture, accessories, and lighting collections for domestic and office settings. Jens Ærthøj and Tage Mølholm, two cabinet makers, founded the company by producing handmade products for local customers. With Denmark’s late industrialization, BoConcept began utilizing machines to increase supply without compromising the simplicity, elegance, and quality of their designs that customers had grown to love. Today, what started as a small local furniture business has evolved into a global retail chain and Denmark’s largest furniture brand.

Boconcept adapt as times change

In 2023, BoConcept keeps up with the changing times by adapting to new ideas within the world of workspace design. The furniture makers learned from the Covid pandemic that the traditional approach of a static desk is no longer the only way to create a successful office. In Denmark, flat workplace hierarchies are common practice, where individuals relate to each other as equals regardless of job position. With over 90 unique fabrics, providing a diverse range of colors and textures, BoConcept’s Live ‘Ekstraordinær embraces activity-based working and allows productivity to flourish. This creates opportunities for knowledge sharing and relationship building, as interns and CEOs can work side by side.

Activity-Based Working in Boconcept Headquarters

BoConcept leads by example, as they implement an ABW layout in their Herning-based headquarters as well as their Aoyama office in Tokyo. The interior designs encourage cross-functional collaboration among employees by providing spaces that range from a quiet library to a brainstorming area. This configuration fosters a culture of fresh thinking and diverse perspectives across all departments.

To create like-minded interiors – where cross-functional, active-based working occurs – Boconcept’s new online product lookbook aids configuration. The catalogue assists in exploring various ways to design, layout and effectively combine materials and finishes. With the addition of the 3D warehouse, it serves as an inisghtful resource for anyone interested in creating their own ABW environment.
