after the ‘EXP-6‘ stormed the internet back in 2016 as one of the most extreme examples of a camping trailer, bruder returns with the ‘EXP-4’ as its smaller, simpler, more suitably priced younger brother. with a welcomed family resemblance, this dual-axle camper is rugged on the outside with all the amenities of a teardrop trailer on the inside.

like its older brother, the 4 has a fully sealed, airtight chassis, with 17-in alloy wheels rolled in 33-in mickey thompson tires, and of course, the impressive custom-designed bruder air suspension. the EXP-4 can level out uneven terrain for camping and counteract steep side slopes while off-roading. for perfect towing balance, the suspension can also calibrate its ride height to suit a wide range of tow vehicles.

with nearly triple the adjustable wheel travel of the nearest air suspension system, the EXP-4 boasts an australian 450 grade high tensile circular hollow section steel and shaped to maximise ground clearance. although lightweight, the EXP-4 has 2600kg rated axles, ventilated disc brakes for maximum stopping power and can accommodate tyres up to 37-inches tall.

the EXP-4 undercarriage has rear recovery points and an optional warn recovery winch. the chassis joins forces with the fully engineered EXP-4 body cell, which is made from lightweight composite material up to 60mm thick – engineered to handle up to 10 times its own weight. the EXP-4 body cell has an insulation R-value over 5.1 making it not only the strongest but also the most insulated trailer in its class. even the main drinking water supplies and all plumbing are kept within the EXP-4 body cell meaning precious water supplies are better protected from damage off-road and prevents freezing in extreme climates.

the EXP-4 body uses a closed cell epoxy bonded composite, which is better insulated and has 20% more tensile strength than commonly used polyester bonds. unlike most composite trailers that use aluminium foam sandwich panels or honeycomb core panels, bruder employs a composite construction which improves insulation by preventing pathways for heat or ice to migrate to the interior.

standard electrical equipment includes a 105-Ah AGM battery, solar charger, 240/110V charging, LED lighting, and four USB ports. other amenities include a sitting-height interior filled out by bedding and storage and an exterior comprising a tailgate kitchen, with a 60L fridge, and outdoor shower. bruder says the cabin will sleep twp adults and up to three young children. inside a 5.9-foot-long (1.8m) bunk is elevated over the foot of a large 72 x 86-in (183 x 218-cm) main bed. the rest of the interior is occupied by simple storage including basic shelves and a standing wardrobe with enough hanging space for some clothing.

the EXP-4 is available for $54,500AUD with bruder also offering it globally and it to meet US DOT regulations. buyers in the US can get it shipped for US$5,000 atop the converted base price, (approx. $38,800USD). additional extras include air conditioning, heating, a cabin pressurization system to keep dust out, hot water, solar panels, lithium battery storage and a portable induction cooktop, along with plenty of other options.
