elevate your camping experience with the BunduTRAIL

South Africa- and US-based camping brand Bundutec recently launched BunduTRAIL, a towable vehicle that quickly expands into a living space in under five minutes. Shaped like a chuckwagon, the trailer sports a built-in electric roof system that lifts when needed to make room for an outdoor kitchen, a sleeping pod (BunduTOP), a 360-degree awning (BunduAWN), and a standalone dressing room (BunduSUITE). The starting price for a BunduTRAIL is reported at $28,000, but the company has yet to confirm the number on its website.

To set up camp, users can follow Bundutec team’s two-minute-long video, shared above. It starts with the electric roof tent lifting to its full extent, making way for a snug bedroom (BunduTOP) holding a 206 x 124cm mattress, four ceiling fans, and two LED lights; all four sides open onto views of the landscape ahead. Next, campers can unzip a bag at the top of the passenger side, letting a BunduSUITE tent drop down to serve as a private dressing room. Complementing the tent is a 360-degree awning that unlocks at the opposite side and swings around to meet the ends of BunduTOP, casting ample shade over the kitchen, front, and rear.

The kitchen, meanwhile, is stored as a large cabinet that slides out horizontally from the driver’s side before swiveling upwards. When fixed on its vertical axis, the cabin’s lower section folds down to accommodate a mini ‘countertop’ with a portable cooking stove. Two panels then open sideways, revealing fully-stocked ‘shelves’ with cutlery for six people and cooking utensils (pans, containers, kettle, mixing bowls, bottles, tongs, etc.). Moreover, campers can store food inside a fridge/freezer compartment that slides out next to the kitchen area. At the towing front, a collapsible sink basin with slotted shelving expands to make room for washing dishes, hands, etc.

Power-wise, the BunduTRAIL holds a 105Ah deep cycle battery, one National Luna solar panel, external 220V plugs, a 70L freshwater tank, and several gas appliances. Additional features include a 6″ tire, spare wheel carrier and bike rack at the back, and, as mentioned earlier, a standard BunduTOP to accommodate four people. The company currently promotes two weight class models of the trailer on its website: the GVM 750Kg (1653lbs) or 1.1T (2204 lbs).
