designboom had the opportunity to see french designer, christian astuguevieille’s exhibition ‘astuguevieille à sèvres’ in the paris gallery space of the historic porcelain manufacture sèvres. this exhibition has been previously shown at their main production site and museum in sèvres: the cité de la céramique. the limited edition collection is composed of handmade porcelain pieces that are enhanced with cotton cord – an element that has become a signature of the artist, sculpture and furniture designer.

three sets of objects – deities, offering cups and swelling – legitimize the collection which utilizes pure and natural materials such as leather, cotton and seed-filled bags. abstract and organic in their forms, the porcelain pieces represents and realizes an imaginary civilization.
