dutch design week 2016: dutch designer christian heikoop has presented the ‘glissade collection’ at the design academy eindhoven graduate exhibition during dutch design week. the set — comprised of a chair, and different-sized benches and stools — references the easy assembly method of retro camping gear, where the objects can be put together in a flash, without the need for extra tools or screws. the resulting products showcase a new aesthetic while generating a dialogue between the materials used.

the ‘glissade collection’ by christian heikoop comes in a flat-pack that contains a set of metal tubes and pre-cut leather sleeves. the user is invited to put the product together by simply sliding the textile parts into the metal rods, transforming the flat, 2D design into a functional 3D object. once assembled, the pieces intended for the interior furniture industry, stand out thanks to their design and resulting conversation between the two materials; leather and steel.
