‘kleine kuche’, which translated from german means ‘small kitchen’ seeks to integrate all the necessary elements of a culinary space into one existing furniture. the design created by christopher meyer and vicky müller allows users to hide small items such as food, bowls, and pots within the side silicon panels of the kitchen unit and, in doing so, helps to reclaim space. additionally, the silicone cover conceals the drainage and sink, thus, transforming the design from a kitchen space into a table.

‘small kitchen’ was one of 6 projects presented by the students of burg giebichenstein: hochschule fur kunst und design halle at DMY international design festival berlin 2010. each prototype explored the question ‘how much kitchen space does a person need?’ with only square meter to work with, the students re-examined the common structures of culinary environments.
